Sales Engineer | Renewable Energy (C&I Solar & Storage)

A well-established player in the commercial and industrial renewable energy space is looking to appoint a Sales Engineer into a client-focused, growth-driven environment. This business has built its reputation on long-term partnerships and high-performing energy solutions across Southern Africa, with a strong focus on delivering measurable value to its clients.
This is not a traditional sales role. It sits at the intersection of technical insight and commercial strategy, playing a key role in expanding value within an existing client portfolio.
The opportunity:
This role is centred around unlocking additional value across an established customer base. You will work closely with client relationship teams, engineering, and operations to identify opportunities for optimisation, expansion, and new deployments. Using performance data and system insights, you will translate technical findings into clear commercial opportunities, supporting both revenue growth and long-term client retention.
A big part of this role is bridging the gap between technical and commercial teams, ensuring that complex system insights are translated into practical, value-driven solutions that clients understand and trust.
What you'll be doing:
- Identifying and driving up-sell, cross-sell, and optimisation opportunities within an existing portfolio
- Analysing system performance data to uncover additional savings, upgrades, and expansion potential
- Identifying new deployment opportunities across multiple sites within existing client portfolios
- Translating technical performance insights into clear commercial proposals and business cases
- Supporting solution design, including system sizing, yield assessments, and high-level modelling
- Working closely with engineering, operations, and monitoring teams to validate and execute opportunities
- Ensuring accurate tracking of opportunities and technical data within CRM systems
- Maintaining alignment with relevant standards, compliance requirements, and internal processes
What we're looking for:
- A degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years' experience in a sales engineering, pre-sales, or technical-commercial environment
- Solid exposure to Solar PV and ideally battery storage systems
- Strong ability to interpret data and translate it into commercial value
- Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
