The Product Sales Manager (Process) is responsible for driving profitable sales growth across the company's mineral processing capital equipment portfolio. The role combines technical engineering expertise with commercial acumen to identify opportunities, develop innovative process solutions, manage complex capital equipment tenders and build long-term customer relationships within the mining and minerals processing industry.
Working closely with mine operators, EPCM contractors, consulting engineers, project houses and internal engineering teams, the successful candidate will lead the complete sales lifecycle, from opportunity identification and solution development through proposal preparation, commercial negotiations, contract award and project handover. This position requires a strategic sales professional capable of understanding customer process challenges and developing technically sound, value-driven solutions.
Revenue Generation & Sales DeliveryDevelop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve annual revenue and order intake targets.Drive profitable growth across the assigned mineral processing product portfolio.Maintain targeted gross profit margins through effective commercial management.Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting to contract award.Identify, qualify and pursue new capital equipment opportunities.Build a sustainable pipeline of qualified mining projects.Prepare accurate sales forecasts and business plans.Maintain detailed sales reports and performance metrics.Business DevelopmentDevelop new business opportunities within mining and mineral processing operations.Establish relationships with mining houses, EPCM companies, consulting engineers and project developers.Expand market share within existing customer accounts.Identify emerging market opportunities and new application areas.Represent the business at conferences, exhibitions and industry events.Conduct regular customer visits and site assessments.Develop strategic account plans for key customers.Support long-term business growth initiatives.Technical Sales & Solution DevelopmentUnderstand customer process requirements and operational challenges.Recommend appropriate mineral processing technologies.Develop technically compliant process solutions.Evaluate flowsheets and plant layouts.Conduct technical presentations and solution workshops.Coordinate laboratory and pilot test work where required.Work with engineering teams to develop customised solutions.Ensure proposals align with customer performance objectives.Proposal & Tender ManagementPrepare detailed technical and commercial proposals.Develop capital equipment cost estimates and pricing models.Compile tender submissions in accordance with customer specifications.Review technical documentation and project requirements.Manage internal tender review processes.Ensure compliance with commercial approval procedures.Coordinate multidisciplinary proposal teams.Deliver professional proposal presentations.Commercial & Contract ManagementLead commercial negotiations with customers.Review contractual terms and conditions.Evaluate project risks and commercial exposure.Prepare project risk assessments.Manage warranties, guarantees and performance obligations.Ensure proposals comply with company commercial policies.Support contract clarification meetings.Assist with final contract negotiations.Pipeline & CRM ManagementMaintain an accurate sales pipeline.Update CRM systems with current opportunity information.Monitor project progress throughout the sales process.Track opportunity conversion rates.Maintain forecast accuracy.Generate weekly and monthly sales reports.Monitor sales KPIs.Ensure accurate customer records are maintained.Market IntelligenceMonitor competitor activities and market developments.Identify new technologies and industry trends.Provide structured competitor analysis.Gather customer feedback to support product development.Recommend product improvements based on market requirements.Identify opportunities for new process technologies.Support strategic business planning.Customer Relationship ManagementDevelop trusted relationships with executive stakeholders.Maintain regular customer engagement throughout the project lifecycle.Provide technical advice and product support.Manage customer expectations.Support project execution teams during handover.Resolve customer concerns professionally.Promote long-term customer partnerships.Internal CollaborationWork closely with engineering, estimating and project management teams.Support product management initiatives.Coordinate technical resources during proposal development.Ensure successful project handovers.Share market intelligence across the business.Support continuous improvement initiatives.Financial ManagementPrepare budgets and sales forecasts.Develop financial models for capital projects.Monitor project profitability.Support annual budgeting processes.Maintain commercial discipline throughout the sales process.General ResponsibilitiesMaintain professional relationships with customers and industry stakeholders.Travel extensively throughout Southern Africa and other international regions when required.Spend extended periods at customer mine sites where projects require.Comply with company quality, health, safety and environmental procedures.Represent the company professionally at all times.Contribute towards achieving overall business objectives.
