An established company is seeking a qualified Artisan Diesel Mechanic to join its operations in the Cape Town region. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and repairing plant equipment. While the role is based at a primary site, you will need to travel to other regional sites as required to provide maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out both minor and major repairs on plant equipment

• Diagnose issues and repair or replace faulty mechanical or electrical components

• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance services

• Keep accurate maintenance and service records

• Perform routine checks including oil changes and battery inspections

• Report major maintenance needs and potential health and safety hazards

• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and internal policies

• Record and report all incidents and near-misses

• Monitor on-site hazards and take appropriate safety action

• Deliver high-quality service in line with customer and operational expectations

• Contribute to a safety-first, customer-focused work culture

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Degree advantageous)

  • Red Seal Trade Test (e.g. Millwright, Artisan, Electrician) - multi-skilled candidates preferred

• Experience:

  • 3-4 years in a maintenance or production environment

  • Strong hands-on mechanical maintenance experience

  • Advantageous: Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Strong administrative and reporting skills

  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong technical and problem-solving capabilities
