Our client, a leading independent power producer in Africa, is seeking an experienced HSS Manager for their new 35MW Menengai Geothermal Plant in Nakuru County, Kenya.
This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Plant Manager. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust HSESS management system, ensuring a safe, healthy, secure, and compliant operational environment for this significant geothermal project.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Leading HSESS system development and implementation (ISO 45001 alignment).Ensuring full compliance with Kenyan legislation and international standards.Conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and audits.Developing and delivering H&S training.Liaising with key stakeholders including government authorities and local communities.What We're Looking For:
Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or Engineering, supplemented with a NEBOSH Health & Safety Certificate (NEBOSH Diploma preferred).Minimum 7 years' HSS management experience in an operating power plant of similar scale.Strong knowledge of Kenyan HSS legislation and international HSESS standards (IFC Performance Standards, World Bank EHS Guidelines).Proven leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.If you are a proactive, outcomes-driven individual with a passion for safety and a deep understanding of power plant operations, we want to hear from you! We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager for a 35 MW geothermal power plant, in Nakuru County, Kenya. This critical role involves the technical oversight and optimisation of plant operations, including steam turbine systems, control systems, and high voltage systems. The Operations Manager will lead a technical team, ensuring efficient and safe plant operations, maximising availability and output, and adhering to all relevant agreements and standards. This position is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of reliable base-load power to the Kenyan grid.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain plant-specific operating procedures, casualty control procedures, and control room practicesDirect the operations team in operation routines, switching operations, and annual capacity tests.Monitor equipment operating trends, prevent outages, and perform root cause analysis.Ensure compliance with O&M manuals, PPA, PISSA, and HSESS policiesManage the implementation and effectiveness of permit-to-work and Lock Out/Tag Out systems.Oversee the development and maintenance of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Coordinate with head-office support groups (e.g. Ops, HSESS, HR, Legal).Contribute to departmental budgets and objectives.Requirements:
Degree in Engineering or Diploma with substantial operational experience in large power stations or geothermal power plants. Registration with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya preferred. 10+ years of relevant operations experience in a large power plant or similar industry. Proven understanding of geothermal power plant operations, including steam turbine and high voltage systems. We require an experienced and action-orientated Maintenance Manager for a 35 MW geothermal power plant in Nakuru County, Kenya. This pivotal role is responsible for organising, implementing, and overseeing the maintenance of all plant equipment, ensuring maximum availability and reliability. The Maintenance Manager will lead the maintenance team, manage spare parts and inventory, and establish maintenance policies and procedures in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs.Manage the maintenance team, including recruitment, training, and development.Oversee all spares, tools, equipment, and consumables inventory.Ensure compliance with work permit and LOTO procedures.Develop and maintain the CMMSManage maintenance contracts with OEMs/Vendors.Prepare and manage departmental budgets.Ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies.Plan and execute outages in collaboration with the Operations Manager.Requirements:
