Rotables Controller

Client Description

A well-established mining company is seeking a Rotables Controller to join its Procurement team. This permanent role is responsible for managing reusable (rotable) components, coordinating maintenance and repairs, overseeing technical procurement, and ensuring critical mining equipment remains available while controlling operational costs.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain stock levels of rotable components to support maintenance and operations.
• Source and procure technical components, materials, and services to required specifications.
• Track the condition, lifespan, and status of rotable parts and sub-assemblies.
• Coordinate the removal, replacement, installation, and repair of rotable components.
• Verify the correct installation of critical components during maintenance activities.
• Compile Failure Analysis Reports (FAR) with supporting QA/QC documentation.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to define technical requirements.
• Evaluate, manage, and review supplier performance.
• Handle vendor complaints and warranty claims with supporting documentation.
• Manage repair budgets, monitor costs, and negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers.
• Maintain accurate records for audit and departmental compliance.
• Resolve supplier quality issues, delivery delays, and invoice discrepancies.
• Ensure high standards of safety, health, environmental, and quality compliance.
• Stay informed of market trends and new technologies to improve procurement and reduce costs.
• Prepare reports on component status, lifespan, and repair costs for management.

Experience Requirements

• Previous experience as an artisan or in a similar technical role.
• Experience with vendor/supplier management.
• Experience using ERP systems.
• Understanding of mining machinery and rotating components.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, technical specifications, and industrial materials.
• Knowledge of data management systems, financial metrics, and operational risk management.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and business acumen skills.

Education Requirements

• Grade 12 (required).
• National Diploma in Engineering or N6 qualification (required).
• Valid Trade Test certificate (required).
• N3 qualification (advantageous).
• Forklift licence (advantageous).
• Valid driver's licence (advantageous).
