I'm representing a well-established, full-service public accounting firm in the Greater Toronto Area that is looking to add an experienced Manager to its Private Enterprise practice.
The firm works closely with privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, owner-managed companies, high-net-worth individuals, and professional service organizations, providing a broad range of accounting, tax, assurance, and advisory services.

The OpportunityThe Manager will take ownership of a portfolio of Private Enterprise clients, with a primary focus on compilation engagements, Canadian corporate and personal tax, client advisory, and team leadership.
The ideal candidate is someone who combines strong technical accounting and tax knowledge with the ability to build trusted relationships with business owners and entrepreneurs.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and review compilation engagements from planning through completionManage engagement timelines, workflow, budgets, and overall file progressWork directly with owner-managed businesses and private companies as a trusted advisorIdentify and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting mattersIdentify tax, planning, and advisory opportunities for clientsParticipate in client meetings, presentations, and new client onboardingReview T2 corporate tax returns and related schedulesReview T1 personal tax returns for owner-managers, HNW individuals, and family groupsProvide technical guidance and support to staff and senior team membersMentor, coach, and develop junior, intermediate, and senior accounting professionalsParticipate in recruiting, training, and broader practice-development initiativesContribute to business development, networking, and relationship-building activitiesCross-Border Experience - Strong AssetExperience working with Canada-U.S. clients would be highly valuable.
Candidates with exposure to areas such as:
U.S. personal tax complianceDual-status individualsU.S. tax filingsFBAR / FinCEN 114Form 8938Form 3520Canada-U.S. tax treaty mattersDeparture taxCross-border estate planningwill receive strong consideration.
An active U.S. CPA designation would also be a significant asset, although it is not mandatory.
Ideal BackgroundThe successful candidate will have:
Canadian CPA designation preferred5+ years of progressive public accounting experienceStrong Private Enterprise / owner-managed business experience2+ years of experience at the Manager levelExperience reviewing compilation engagements and financial statementsStrong Canadian corporate and personal tax experienceDemonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and develop accounting professionalsStrong client-facing and communication skillsExperience with Canadian accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platformsCompensation & LocationSalary: $120,000 - $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
📍 Markham / GTA
This is an office-based opportunity, generally 3-5 days per week, with increased in-office expectations during busy season.
Candidates must have Canadian public accounting experience and be legally eligible to work in Canada.

4+ years of public accounting tax experienceAt least 1 year of experience operating at a Manager levelStrong experience working with real estate clientsExperience with partnership and flow-through taxationStrong technical research and tax-planning capabilitiesExcellent client communication and relationship-management skillsA Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or a related disciplineCPA or equivalent credential preferredMaster's in Taxation is a plusCompensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $111,800 - $169,800, depending on experience and qualifications.
