The company is experiencing strong growth and is developing technology that enables businesses to manage energy more efficiently, integrate renewable energy, and make better use of energy storage.

With an entrepreneurial culture and a strong focus on innovation, the company is expanding its commercial activities and looking for an experienced business development professional to help accelerate the adoption of its EMS solutions.

Role and Responsibilities:

EMS Business DevelopmentContribute to the commercial strategy for the EMS, identifying target markets, customer segments, sales channels, and growth opportunities.Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including installers, system integrators, energy suppliers, and end customers.Identify, negotiate, and develop strategic partnerships that support the adoption and deployment of EMS solutions.Revenue GrowthDrive revenue growth through effective sales, pricing, and market positioning strategies.Develop and manage the EMS sales pipeline and business development activities.Contribute to commercial objectives, track performance, and continuously improve sales effectiveness.Support partners throughout the sales process and help remove barriers to successful project delivery.Market & Product StrategyContribute to the development and evolution of the EMS value proposition and go-to-market strategy.Collaborate with the marketing team to promote EMS solutions and strengthen market presence.Represent the company at industry events, trade fairs, and customer meetings.Work closely with the management team to align commercial activities with broader business objectives and provide input into product development.

Required Experience

Strong business development, sales, or commercial experience within the energy sector.Proven track record of growing revenue and developing strategic partnerships.Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills.Entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for working in a fast-moving environment.Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus.

Preferred Experience

Master's degree in economics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Strong proficiency in MS Excel and an interest in using AI tools to improve productivity.Experience with ERP or CRM systems such as Odoo.

An established specialist engineering and mining-equipment organisation is seeking an experienced Regional Sales & Business Development Manager to grow its capital equipment, refurbishment, spare parts and aftermarket business across Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The successful candidate will have strong technical sales experience within mineral processing, comminution or heavy mining equipment, with direct exposure to grinding mills, rotary scrubbers or closely related processing equipment. The position requires someone capable of developing new business, managing strategic mining accounts and translating plant and maintenance requirements into commercially viable engineered solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a regional sales and business development strategy across the mining, mineral processing and heavy industrial sectors.Identify and secure opportunities involving grinding mills, rotary scrubbers, mill components and associated mechanical equipment.Sell new capital equipment, replacement equipment, refurbishment programmes, spare parts, field services and aftermarket solutions.Develop relationships with mining houses, mineral-processing plants, EPCM contractors, consulting engineers and project developers.Engage with plant managers, engineering managers, maintenance managers, metallurgists, procurement teams and project stakeholders.Conduct regular customer visits, site inspections and technical-commercial discussions across Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa.Understand customer plant requirements and work with engineering teams to develop suitable technical solutions and proposals.Manage opportunities involving ball mills, SAG mills, AG mills, rod mills, rotary scrubbers and related components.Support sales of mill shells, trunnions, liners, girth gears, pinions, bearings, gearboxes, drive systems and lubrication systems.Identify equipment refurbishment, upgrade, repair, reverse-engineering and life-extension opportunities.Prepare technical-commercial proposals, quotations, tenders, forecasts and account-development plans.Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery requirements and service agreements.Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide regular forecasting and market-intelligence reports.Monitor mining projects, plant expansions, shutdowns and equipment-replacement programmes.Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, project, workshop and field-service teams throughout the sales and delivery process.Represent the organisation at customer meetings, mining conferences, technical presentations and industry events.Maintain customer relationships after project delivery and identify recurring aftermarket and service opportunities.Essential ExperienceAt least 8 to 15 years of technical sales, business development or key account management experience.Proven experience selling equipment or engineered solutions into mining and mineral-processing operations.Direct exposure to grinding mills, rotary scrubbers, comminution equipment or closely related mineral-processing machinery.Experience selling capital equipment together with aftermarket services, spare parts, refurbishment or maintenance solutions.Established relationships with mining houses, EPCM organisations, mineral-processing plants and engineering stakeholders.Experience managing long and technically complex sales cycles.Regional travel experience across Southern Africa or Sub-Saharan Africa.Strong technical-commercial proposal, negotiation and account-management capabilities.Preferred Technical Exposure

The ideal candidate will be technically credible in front of engineers and plant stakeholders while remaining strongly commercially driven. They should understand how grinding and scrubbing equipment operates within a mineral-processing plant and be capable of identifying opportunities across the full equipment lifecycle, including new equipment, replacement components, upgrades, refurbishment, maintenance and field services.

Role Purpose

The client is seeking a commercially driven and experienced professional to lead the origination and development of renewable energy and BESS projects across Southern Africa.

This role is responsible for building and executing a pipeline of bankable, investment-ready projects, leading transactions from early-stage opportunity identification through to financial close. The position plays a key role in the organisation's growth strategy and requires strong expertise in deal origination, project structuring, and stakeholder management.

This is a strategic development role focused on project creation and execution, not a sales function.

Key Responsibilities

Project Origination & Pipeline Development

Identify, originate, and develop viable renewable energy and BESS opportunities

Lead projects from greenfield stage through to financial close

Secure land, grid access, and all required development rights

Build and maintain a strong pipeline of investment-grade opportunities

Transaction Execution

Own transactions from origination through to financial close

Lead Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations with private and public offtakers

Coordinate and manage due diligence processes, lender mandates, and investment committee submissions

Support financial structuring aligned with project finance requirements

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

Establish and manage relationships with:

Offtakers (C&I and utilities)

Lenders, DFIs, and funding partners

Government and regulatory authorities

Strategic partners and developers

Represent the organisation in key negotiations and external engagements

Market Strategy & Commercial Insight

Monitor developments in:

South African Wholesale Electricity Market (SAWEM)

Southern African Power Pool (SAPP)

Support entry into electricity trading and cross-border markets

Identify and evaluate M&A and project acquisition opportunities

Project Development Coordination

Coordinate across legal, technical, and financial workstreams

Ensure projects achieve bankability in line with lender requirements

Manage development timelines, risks, and key milestones

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 3+ years' experience in renewable energy project development

Proven experience in:

Financial close and/or PPA negotiation (non-negotiable)

Utility-scale renewable energy projects (non-negotiable)

Degree in Finance, Engineering, Law, or a related field

Strong understanding of the South African renewable energy project finance framework

Willingness to travel across Southern Africa (including Namibia, Botswana, eSwatini, and Zambia)

Key Competencies

Strong commercial acumen and deal origination capability

Advanced negotiation and transaction management skills

Strategic thinker with strong market awareness

Ability to operate independently in a high-accountability role

Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management
