Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Water & Wastewater Business Development Manager to lead the growth and development of our water business across Africa. This role is responsible for developing market strategies, managing key customer relationships, supporting major project opportunities, and driving business growth across municipal, industrial, mining, and infrastructure sectors.
Working closely with regional and global teams, the successful candidate will provide technical and commercial leadership throughout the sales cycle, from opportunity identification and solution development through to tender management and project execution,
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute business development strategies for the water, wastewater, and irrigation markets across AfricaBuild and maintain strong relationships with end users, consultants, EPCs, municipalities, contractors, and key industry stakeholdersIdentify new business opportunities and manage the sales pipeline to achieve revenue growthLead technical and commercial discussions with customers, providing pump and system solutions for water and wastewater applicationsManage tender submissions, project proposals, and consortium agreements for major projectsCoordinate with engineering, sales, and project teams to deliver technically sound and commercially competitive solutionsSupport the successful execution of water and wastewater projects throughout the project lifecycleMonitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify new opportunitiesProvide technical guidance and training to internal teams, distributors, and customers where requiredEnsure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standardsRequired Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline5-10+ years of experience in business development, sales management, or project management within the water, wastewater, or pump industryProven experience managing complex project tenders and technical sales opportunitiesStrong knowledge of centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, and pumping systemsSolid understanding of hydraulic principles, including flow, pressure, head, and pump efficiencyExperience supporting applications within industries such as municipal water, wastewater treatment, mining, chemicals, energy, or industrial processAbility to interpret pump curves, engineering specifications, technical datasheets, and system designsPractical understanding of pump installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshootingExperience using SAP, SAP C4C (Cloud for Customer), and Microsoft 365Preferred Skills
Strong commercial and business development mindsetExcellent customer relationship and stakeholder management skillsAbility to lead technical discussions and present solutions to customersExperience working across multiple African markets is advantageousStrong communication, negotiation, and project coordination skillsWillingness to travel across Africa as requiredRead less
