Lead Complex Engineering Projects Across Critical Infrastructure

An established engineering and project delivery business is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex industrial projects across the energy, water and environmental sectors.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded engineering leader with a strong background in EPC project delivery, technical leadership and business development to shape project execution from concept through to commissioning while driving engineering excellence across the organisation.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the technical function, providing leadership across engineering studies, project delivery, tendering and construction support. You will work closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop technically robust and commercially competitive solutions for complex industrial facilities.

This role combines engineering leadership, commercial strategy, project execution and business development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys operating at both a strategic and technical level.

Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering LeadershipLead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers and technical specialists.Provide technical direction across engineering studies, FEED, detailed design and EPC project execution.Ensure engineering deliverables are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest technical standards.Mentor and develop technical teams while promoting engineering best practice.Project DeliveryProvide technical leadership throughout the complete project lifecycle.Oversee engineering studies, technical audits and industrial facility design.Support construction, commissioning and project delivery teams during execution.Ensure engineering solutions remain practical, commercially viable and fully compliant with client specifications.Tendering & Business DevelopmentLead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for major industrial projects.Support business development through technical presentations, client engagement and solution development.Evaluate technical specifications and develop cost-effective engineering solutions.Prepare project execution strategies and technical documentation for major tenders.Commercial & Technical ManagementManage engineering budgets, project costs and technical resources.Review subcontractor and supplier proposals.Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of equipment and engineering solutions.Support contract negotiations, technical clarifications and project risk assessments.Innovation & Continuous ImprovementIdentify emerging technologies and industry best practices.Drive continuous improvement across engineering systems, project delivery methodologies and technical standards.Support the development of new technical capabilities and service offerings.About YouDegree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Electrical or related Engineering discipline.Professional registration or eligibility for registration will be advantageous.Extensive experience delivering complex industrial EPC or EPCM projects.Strong multidisciplinary engineering background with exposure to process, mechanical, electrical and control systems.Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams and large capital projects.Strong commercial awareness with experience supporting tenders, proposals and client engagement.Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.Highly Desirable ExperienceIndustrial process plants.Energy infrastructure projects.Water or wastewater treatment facilities.Waste treatment or resource recovery projects.Engineering studies, technical due diligence and FEED projects.Construction management and commissioning.Project planning using MS Project or equivalent planning software.Technical proposal development and client-facing engineering support.Why Apply?Join a respected engineering business delivering complex industrial infrastructure projects.Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams on technically challenging projects.Play a strategic role in business growth, innovation and project delivery.Excellent career progression into executive leadership.Competitive remuneration package and long-term development opportunities.
