An established renewable energy business is looking to appoint a Professionally Registered Electrical Engineer (Pr.Eng) to play a leading role in the design and development of commercial and industrial Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically accomplished engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, engaging with clients, and developing innovative energy solutions from concept through to implementation.

Working alongside commercial, engineering and project delivery teams, you'll influence major renewable energy projects while helping to shape engineering standards and mentor the next generation of engineers.

The Opportunity

As a senior member of the engineering team, you will take ownership of technical solution development, feasibility assessments, engineering design, and project support across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects.

You'll combine deep technical expertise with commercial awareness to develop practical, compliant and cost-effective solutions that deliver value for clients while supporting business growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Technical DesignLead the technical design and development of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions.Conduct feasibility studies, energy yield assessments and system modelling.Perform system sizing and develop technically compliant engineering solutions.Review engineering designs and provide professional approval prior to submission.Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, electrical regulations and grid requirements.Project DevelopmentProduce and review:Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)Bills of Quantities (BOQs)Equipment specificationsGeneral Arrangement drawingsCable sizing calculationsProtection philosophiesSupport engineering teams throughout project development, construction and commissioning.Participate in design reviews, technical troubleshooting and engineering optimisation.Client & Commercial SupportWork closely with business development teams to develop tailored technical solutions.Support technical proposals, tender submissions and customer presentations.Engage with clients, consultants, utilities, OEMs and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Evaluate products and technologies to ensure the most appropriate technical solution for each application.Technical LeadershipMentor and coach graduate and junior engineers.Drive engineering quality, consistency and continuous improvement.Support the development of engineering standards, procedures and best practices.Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry developments within the renewable energy sector.About YouBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.Proven experience designing commercial or utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, renewable energy systems and grid integration.Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and commercial stakeholders.A collaborative leader with a passion for engineering excellence.Preferred ExperienceCommercial & Industrial (C&I) renewable energy projects.Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid energy solutions.Engineering modelling and simulation software.Grid code compliance, NRS and SANS standards.EPC, EPCM or renewable energy project environments.Technical proposal development and engineering support during project execution.Why Join?Work on innovative renewable energy projects that are shaping the future of the energy sector.Join a technically driven engineering team focused on quality and innovation.Enjoy a role that combines engineering, client engagement and project development.Mentor talented engineers and influence engineering best practice.Competitive remuneration package with excellent long-term career growth.
