Our client, a leading renewable energy developer, is seeking a talented Project Engineer to support the development of large-scale wind energy and battery storage projects from early-stage development through to construction readiness. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team at the forefront of Africa's energy transition.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for wind resource assessment, energy modelling, project optimisation, and battery storage analysis across a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects. Working closely with technical specialists, development teams, lenders, consultants, and stakeholders, you will help deliver bankable renewable energy projects that contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities

Develop wind turbine layouts and perform energy yield assessments for project opportunities.Support lender due diligence processes and ensure energy assessments meet bankability requirements.Conduct site visits and assess turbine and monitoring locations.Coordinate monitoring campaigns, geotechnical investigations, and engineering studies.Support project development activities including noise assessments, visual impact assessments, GIS mapping, and layout optimisation.Manage wind monitoring equipment and coordinate maintenance activities where required.Perform BESS modelling, hybrid system analysis, and project sizing.Provide technical support across the development portfolio and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (BEng or BSc Engineering).Experience in wind resource assessment and energy yield modelling.Exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) modelling would be advantageous.Strong analytical capabilities with advanced Excel and Python skills.GIS experience will be beneficial.Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Willingness to travel regularly to project sites and occasionally across Africa.
