A rapidly growing energy infrastructure company operating in the utility-scale energy storage sector is expanding its presence across the United States. The business develops and delivers large-scale energy infrastructure projects supporting the transition toward a more flexible and resilient power system. As the company continues to build its US project portfolio, it is expanding its project development team and is seeking an experienced Project Development Manager to support the advancement of utility-scale, front-of-the-meter projects across key US markets. About the Role

The Project Development Manager will be responsible for advancing assigned utility-scale energy projects through the development lifecycle, from early-stage feasibility through permitting, interconnection and ultimately Ready-to-Build / Financial Close. The role is focused on hands-on project execution and coordination. You will act as a central point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating internal teams and external partners and ensuring key development activities remain on schedule, within budget and aligned with project objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with teams across Engineering, Grid, Commercial, Finance and Legal, as well as external developers, consultants, utilities, landowners and regulatory authorities. Strong experience with US interconnection processes, permitting and utility-scale energy project development is important, together with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and keep complex projects moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned utility-scale energy projects from early-stage development through Ready-to-Build / Financial Close.Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, milestones, risk registers and development plans.Coordinate key development workstreams including interconnection, permitting, land, environmental studies, engineering and commercial activities.Identify project risks, dependencies and potential delays and work proactively with the wider team to resolve them.Support project evaluation and feasibility assessments for new development opportunities.Track project progress and provide regular updates to project and senior management.Lead day-to-day coordination of project interconnection activities with relevant US utilities, transmission owners and ISO/RTOs.Manage interconnection applications, studies, milestones and required documentation.Coordinate technical inputs between internal engineering teams, utilities, grid consultants and other project stakeholders.Support evaluation of interconnection feasibility, costs, timelines and potential project constraints.Monitor changes to relevant ISO/RTO requirements and market processes and assess their impact on assigned projects.Experience with markets such as ERCOT, PJM, SPP, MISO or CAISO is advantageous.Coordinate project permitting and approval processes at federal, state and local levels.Manage relationships and communication with relevant authorities, municipalities and regulatory stakeholders.Coordinate environmental, technical and other specialist studies required to progress projects.Track permitting requirements, approvals, conditions and associated project deadlines.Identify regulatory risks and escalate issues where required.Support land acquisition and site-control activities, including coordination with landowners and local stakeholders.Work with local development partners and co-development counterparties to advance project activities.Coordinate development agreements, project milestones, deliverables and workstreams with external partners.Monitor the quality, timing and progress of work completed by development partners and consultants.Build effective working relationships with landowners, developers, consultants and other external stakeholders.Work closely with Commercial and Finance teams to support project business cases, financial analysis and investment decisions.Provide development inputs into project budgets, schedules, financial models and risk assessments.Support commercial discussions with utilities, developers, offtakers and other project stakeholders where required.Coordinate with Legal on development agreements, land agreements, consultant contracts and other project documentation.Ensure development activities remain aligned with commercial and investment requirements.Support projects in progressing toward a bankable, investment-ready and construction-ready position.Act as a central coordination point for assigned projects, ensuring internal and external stakeholders remain aligned.Coordinate cross-functional teams across Development, Engineering, Grid, Commercial, Finance and Legal.Manage external consultants and specialist advisors.Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, from technical teams and grid operators to regulators, development partners and landowners.Organise and lead project meetings, track actions and ensure agreed deliverables are completed.Escalate critical risks, decisions and delays to senior management with clear recommendations.Maintain a strong understanding of the US energy market and relevant project development frameworks.Monitor changes to interconnection rules, permitting requirements, energy storage policy and market structures.Identify how regulatory or market changes may affect the company's development pipeline.Support the assessment of new markets and development opportunities as the US portfolio expands.

Required Experience & Background

3-7 years of experience in utility-scale energy project development, renewable energy, energy storage, power generation or related infrastructure.Demonstrated experience progressing projects through multiple stages of development, ideally including permitting and interconnection.Practical understanding of US utility-scale project development processes.Experience working with utilities, transmission owners, ISO/RTOs, permitting authorities, landowners or other project stakeholders.Understanding of US interconnection processes and the ability to coordinate technical and commercial aspects of interconnection.Experience managing external consultants, development partners and multidisciplinary project teams.Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage schedules, budgets, risks and multiple concurrent workstreams.Experience working across functions such as Engineering, Grid, Commercial, Finance and Legal.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Business or a related discipline.Professional English.

Preferred Experience

Experience with utility-scale energy storage / BESS, renewable energy or hybrid energy projects.Experience with front-of-the-meter projects.Experience in one or more major US power markets, including ERCOT, PJM, SPP, MISO or CAISO.Practical experience with utility interconnection applications, studies or negotiations.Experience with land acquisition, site control and landowner negotiations.Experience working with local development partners or co-development structures.Familiarity with state and local permitting processes for large-scale energy infrastructure.Experience taking projects toward Financial Close and/or Ready-to-Build.
