A leading logistics and transport organisation is seeking an experienced Operations Executive: Fleet to take executive responsibility for the performance, reliability and efficiency of a large, geographically dispersed vehicle fleet. Based in the Western Cape, the role will oversee fleet operations across multiple regions and business units, ensuring assets are utilised effectively and transport operations consistently meet operational, commercial and customer requirements.

The successful candidate will develop and execute fleet strategies aligned with wider business objectives, with responsibility for fleet utilisation, asset productivity, vehicle availability, maintenance, replacement planning and operational performance. They will identify opportunities to improve fleet deployment, capacity planning and asset lifecycle management while ensuring the organisation achieves strong returns from its fleet investment.

A major focus will be on operational efficiency and cost optimisation, including fuel management, maintenance expenditure, fleet operating costs and productivity. The Operations Executive will manage operational budgets, monitor key performance indicators and implement initiatives that reduce costs while maintaining service quality and reliability.

The role will also have significant responsibility for safety, compliance and operational risk, ensuring adherence to transport and road safety regulations, internal standards and audit requirements. The successful candidate will promote a strong safety culture, oversee incident management and drive corrective actions where required.

From a people perspective, the Operations Executive will lead and develop senior fleet, transport and operational teams, establish clear performance standards and build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, commercially driven fleet executive with 10+ years of senior experience across transport, logistics, bulk haulage, mining logistics, FMCG distribution, agricultural logistics or another fleet-intensive environment. Proven experience managing large fleets, substantial operational budgets and geographically dispersed teams is essential.
