Construction Manager

Location: Limpopo, South Africa

An established renewable energy business is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of utility-scale renewable energy projects in Limpopo.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all construction activities from site establishment through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead construction execution across utility-scale renewable energy projects.Manage site teams, supervisors, subcontractors and construction personnel.Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical and electrical construction activities.Monitor project schedules, budgets and resource allocation.Drive compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.Manage contractor performance and resolve construction-related issues.Oversee progress reporting, stakeholder communication and project controls.Ensure successful delivery of substations, grid connections and associated infrastructure.Support commissioning and project handover activities.

Requirements

Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.10 to 15 years' Construction Management experience.Minimum 5 years' experience delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects.Proven experience managing EPC construction activities on large infrastructure projects.Strong understanding of solar PV construction methodologies.Experience with substations, electrical infrastructure and grid integration.Professional registration through SACPCMP or PMP certification required.Strong leadership, contractor management and stakeholder engagement skills.Permanent residents and South African citizens will be considered.

Location

Limpopo-based role.Candidates willing to relocate or travel regularly between Gauteng and Limpopo are encouraged to apply.

We are seeking a high-caliber Project Manager to lead the management of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contractors. This is a critical role ensuring that utility-scale projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest international standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesContract & Contractor Management: Lead the construction team in managing EPC and O&M contractors, ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations, drafting notices, and assisting in dispute mitigation.Financial Oversight: Manage payment milestones, expenditure forecasting, and project finance coordination (debt/equity drawdowns) to ensure contractors are paid accurately and timely.Schedule & Quality: Rigorously analyze project schedules and critical path items to minimize delays. Oversee quality plans and audits to ensure best international practices are maintained.Risk & HSE: Identify and mitigate project risks (technical, financial, and safety). Coordinate with HSE teams to ensure all legislative and contractual safety requirements are met.Stakeholder Reporting: Act as the central hub for project reporting, coordinating input for SteerCos, lenders, sponsors, and utilities.Team Leadership: Support the Head of Construction in resource planning, recruitment, and managing a high-performing construction and operational team.RequirementsEducation: Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.Certification: PMP (Project Management Professional) or an equivalent qualification is essential.Experience: 5-10 years as a Project Manager in the power generation industry, with at least 5 years specifically in Renewable Energy.Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Office and MS Projects (or other PM software).Expertise: Deep understanding of risk management, contract law (notices/claims), and industry-related legislation.Attributes: A methodical, analytical professional capable of managing complex transactions under pressure with a "problem-solver" mindset.
