An international mining company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting Manager to join their team in Sandton.
This role will be responsible for managing the full finance and reporting function across multiple exploration companies operating in the DRC, Angola, Zambia, and Kazakhstan. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for ensuring excellence in financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the finance and reporting functions for multiple Group companies across Africa and Central Asia.
Review trial balances to ensure accurate financial standing per reporting period.
Prepare inter-group cost recovery calculations and submit monthly finance packs.
Oversee accounts payable functions, including review and release of purchase orders and payments.
Manage cash flow and accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections.
Assist with financial information for annual Mining Group reports, including ESTMA and sustainability reporting.
Ensure timely submission of statutory reports such as VAT returns and withholding taxes in relevant jurisdictions.
Manage internal, external, and tax audit processes.
Prepare and consolidate annual budgets for exploration operations, including monthly variance analysis.
Collaborate closely with operational sites, suppliers, banks, and insurers to ensure uninterrupted financial operations.
Maintain and improve internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Manage insurance cover submissions and maintain bank account administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completed Finance Degree (BCom / BCom Honours).
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a similar Accounting Manager position.
Extensive knowledge of accounting software.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience within the mining or exploration industry would be highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of multinational and multi-currency accounting environments.
Working Conditions:
Office-based in Sandton with occasional travel if required.
Interaction with teams located across various remote exploration sites.
